Tips from Father of the Bride

Father of the Bride

Tips from Father of the bride, George

  1. What I would say to a future father of the bride is … go with the flow. Stay out of the women’s way. Don’t try to control anything. Stay in the moment and take it all in. Avoid distractions like taking pictures (there’s a photographer for that and others who’ll be taking pictures). Don’t get caught up in the little things that will go awry, just deal with those that will impact the bride and groom’s joy.
  2. As father of the bride, you’re an important part of the wedding. Be there for your family. Treat your role with the right amount of seriousness … but at the same time don’t forget to enjoy the moment, have fun, and be yourself and authentic. Laugh. Cry. Sing. Dance.
  3. What I appreciated from the bride and groom is … everything! It’s their day, not yours, so play the supportive role to the best of your capabilities. Take whatever they offer/give…eye contact, hugs, smiles, love. Stay out of their way because it’s about the two of them.
  4. Encourage the bridal party and groomsmen. They are nervous and don’t want to mess up and ruin the bride’s and groom’s big day. Support them, encourage them, and help if they look like they need it. Drink with them to celebrate them doing their job the best they could.
