Fall was a season of celebrations! We celebrated our granddaughter’s 6th birthday, honoured my father-in-law’s 96th birthday, and threw in Thanksgiving celebrations too!
Our youngest daughter, Kelly loves baking. She made a wonderful cake for our granddaughter as well as for my father-in-law. (Do the math… they’re only 90 years apart!)

My husband, my father-in-law and I decided to take a historic train ride on the Heritage Hopper with Waterloo Central Railway. It certainly wasn’t as smooth as newer trains, but it was definitely a lot of fun. If you were brave enough to stand up, you had to hold on to the seats. The scenery was spectacular! We disembarked in St. Jacobs and walked around the charming little town, which my father-in-law had never seen before.
Then came Halloween. We went to our second daughter’s home to celebrate Halloween with our grandchildren. We were ‘weather fortunate’ and it turned out to be a perfect evening for Reya and Dashel (aged X and X) to collect dizzying amounts of treats from neighbours.
Totally unexpected, I was asked to participate in the Lux Global Excellence Awards 2023. Businesses that demonstrate unbeatable customer service, expert branding, and product innovation are recognized. Wow! I thought about it and decided to send in my submission. I am awaiting the results. Fingers crossed! https://www.lux-review.com/lux_awards/global-excellence-awards/
As the temperature started dropping, I decided it was time to treat myself to a new pair of slippers. I loved the ones I had, but they were completely worn out. Lucky me, I managed to find a new pair that are just as warm and cozy, without the wear.
Last but not least was the unenviable annual task of raking tons of falling leaves from the big trees adorning our property. Thank you Mother Nature!
