Our two oldest daughters Amy and Steffie, took the reins and organized a bridal shower for their younger sister Kelly on  July 14. That day has special meaning for me. It’s also my older sister’s birthday!

The wedding of Kelly and Cory on August 31st was perfect in every way (as Mary Poppins would say). It was such a pleasure getting to know Cory’s family and friends and reconnecting with ours. Weddings are such happy times.

Fondly Remembering My Roots

Sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles came from Saint-Hubert, Montréal, La Minerve, the Lac Saint-Jean area, Jonquière, Saint-Prime, Roberval and Sainte-Hedwidge.  It was wonderful to catch up!

Unfortunately, some family members were unable to attend as they are dealing with health issues of their own. The most important thing in life is taking care of oneself. We wish them a speedy recovery.

Sainte-Hedwidge is a municipality in Québec with a population of about 877. The community is sometimes known as Sainte-Hedwidge-de-Roberval. I was born at the Roberval Hospital, but lived in the village of Sainte-Hedwidge.

I would like to see the farm where we once lived but sadly it was sold and torn down. Our Dad built a new home in Roberval and was later offered a position with the Government of as a Concierge. Roberval is the home of the Traversée Internationale du Lac St-Jean, an annual swimming competition held since 1955. The competition features the crossing of Lake St-Jean, a distance of 32 km (20 miles).  https://traversee.qc.ca/

From Oakville, it would take about 11-12 hours (depending on traffic, of course). Smart planning would be to stop at one of my sisters and brothers along the way, either in Montreal or Quebec City.

Have a wonderful Fall!
